The Changing Nature Of
Landscape
An exhibition by
Paul Richardson M.A.
This exhibition comprises of
water colour studies taken from our local East Antrim landscape. Scenes depicted
represent for me the familiar, the ordinary, the every day places that are
often over looked and taken for granted. Such places when afforded our full
attention and scrutiny can be appreciated for their true beauty.
Landscape is never static, it’s
in constant flux as light and time ensures that the colour and form of any
setting changes from minute to minute. The artist is tasked with trying to
capture an estimation of a specific time and place.
It has been a challenge
restricting my self to the technique of water colour as previously I have
worked freely in acrylics whilst also making contemporary sculpture. The
unpredictability of water colour makes for an exciting process, a process that
is led by the medium. The medium is well suited to the depiction of the ever
changing light condition which illuminates our iconic landscape.
